Tweetsie Christmas A Brand New Holiday Event at Tweetsie Railroad

Tweetsie Christmas

A new High Country holiday event begins this year as Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock is transformed into a winter wonderland for Tweetsie Christmas.

North Carolina’s first theme park, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, will be open Friday and Saturday evenings in December. This represents the first time Tweetsie has extended its season past the popular Ghost Train at Halloween.

At Tweetsie Christmas Santa Claus arrives on the first train of the night and heads to his workshop at the Tweetsie Pavilion.

Here are a few of the other holiday attractions and activities your students will enjoy.

Meet Santa

Students visit Santa in his gingerbread workshop with furniture that looks like candy. They talk with Santa and have photos taken at his gingerbread workbench.

Hop Aboard Tweetsie

Tweetsie’s tracks will be lined with holiday lights and the sound of Christmas carols will be heard as the famed No. 12 locomotive steams through the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Christmas Lights

A winter wonderland of lights awaits your students throughout the open areas of the park. Students will especially want to see the 30-foot LED interactive Christmas tree.

See a Christmas Show

Take a seat in the Tweetsie Palace for a 15-minute variety show highlighting the sounds of Christmas.

Step into a Snow Globe

Students are part of the action inside a globe filled with swirling synthetic snow as they are dwarfed by giant toy soldiers, candy canes and toy drums.

Make S’mores

Snack time around an open fire as students enjoy roasting marshmallows, funnel cakes, fresh baked cookies and other handmade treats from Tweetsie’s famous Fudge Shop.
